Surge Bins:  Milacron's Surge Bins are constructed in a square configuration that utilizes minimum floor space. The lid is equipped with a loader hole pattern in order to readily accept vacuum loading. Lower discharge sections are available in 45 degrees and 60 degrees to allow full emptying of bin. Heavy duty angle iron support legs provide either minimum or gaylord clearance.  Milacron Surge Bins are available from 1,000 to 4,000 pounds as standard. Larger sizes are available upon request. Available options: level indicators, ladder, leg extensions, side drain, and 4" diameter view window.

Color Feeders:  Milacron's Additive Color Feeders provide adjustable metering rate of color concentrate or other pelletized additive. The feeder's flanged riser section mounts directly below the processing machine's supply hopper. The distribution section resists jamming, and directs the flow of primary material from the hopper around the unrestricted additive flow, combining materials just above the processing machine's feed screw.   The Milacron Color Feeders are designed for the most demanding applications. The riser is fabricated of heavy duty mild steel and is suitable for mounting drying hoppers. The cast auger housing is designed for durability and strength. Gear motors used for driving the augers are permanent magnet DC motors which utilize 0 to 130 volt speed controls and heavy duty gear reducers. Rates from .45 to 800 pounds per hour can be achieved with quick change augers, liners and motors.

Self Contained Loaders:  Milacron's Self Contained Loaders are packaged with tubing and hardware for quick installation. The vacuum blower/motor assembly is mounted on the vacuum chamber lid, and combined with standard modular chamber parts to create a single-station loader. Self Contained Loaders are limited in conveying distance and capacity. Please refer to the appropriate technical sheet for proper sizing.   Milacron's CML-LS series loaders feature fully automatic, self-contained vacuum loading with modular construction for "beside-the-press" applications conveying virgin pellets or reground plastic materials.  All CML-LS series loaders include as standard the CML-SS-102 control and a compressed air, self-cleaning filter system.

Bulk Storage: Milacron offers silos for your Bulk Storage needs. They are available in bolted and welded design. Milacron silos range in holding capacity from 1,040 to 6,015 cubic feet.  Bulk Storage helps reduce your material cost. By buying material in bulk volume, your costs will go down. Milacron silos can be adapted to be filled by either a truck or rail-car.  Many options are available from high / low level sensors, continuous level indicator, vacuum take-away boxes, ladders, crossovers (to connect more than one silo), and truck-fill kits.
Tilt Tables: Milacron Tilt Tables are designed to assist in the unloading of gaylord containers. Milacron offers Tilt Tables to hold gaylords from 1,500 pounds to 2,500 pounds. By attaching a wand to the adjustable wand holder most loose type material will empty completely. There is a vibratory packages available as an option to help assist for harder flowing materials.
Vacuum Loading Systems: Milacron's CM-VLS positive displacement Vacuum Pumps are driven by a 230V or 460V, 3 phase motor. Compact design allow for minimum use of floor space. Accessories included are: vacuum gauge, muffler, vacuum relief valve, and belt guards. Also included is a vacuum switch that is required to electrically signal the systems vacuum status to the Microprocessor Controller. Our broad range of sizes allows the selection of a system for maximum efficiency. Milacron Vacuum Pumps can be used as a single station unit, or provided with multiple station controls to service any number of machines.  Milacron floor filters utilize large capacity pleated fiber filters to protect the vacuum pump from contamination. The filter is easy to access by a quick-release clamps located on the lid of the filter canister. Fines can be removed by placing a container under the filter and removing the expansion plug. For very dusty materials, or for applications using regrind, a cyclone pre-filter can be used.
Dryers: Milacron offers a complete line of portable dehumidifying dryers for applications requiring 30 cfm to 150 cfm. The units are light weight, and have a polished stainless steel housing. These dryers are available with a MC Blower Feed Package. It allows you to mount the dryer and hopper to a portable stand with a blower motor providing dry air conveying of material to the machine feedthroat.  For applications requiring over 150 cfm, Milacron offers a twin tower dryer design that supplies continuous dry air up to -40 F dewpoint. They feature fully automatic desiccant regeneration, full-flow return air filtration, and full desiccant utilization with solid bed design. Optional energy efficient gas fired process and regeneration heaters are also available on these larger models.

 Heat Transfer

Precise and efficient heat removal and proper mold cooling means productivity and profitability. Milacron integrated Heat Transfer systems offer you comprehensive and optimum temperature control, through all process phases and supporting systems.
Comprehensive control of all mold and machine hydraulic cooling parameters are hallmarks of Milacron. Optimize production rates, as well as the quality and appearance of your parts, with the latest state-of-the-art controls and progressive heat transfer design concepts available only from Milacron.

Central Chillers: Milacron offers air and water cooled central chillers ranging in size from 20 to 180 tons. All The Milacron Titan central chiller combine a multizone refrigerant chiller with a large capacity pump tank station. The Titan is engineered specifically for industrial process environment. Process temperatures range from 20 degrees F to 65 degrees F.  The pump station includes process and evaporator pumps, refrigerant and coolant pressure gauges, suction and discharge service valves, and flow safety switches. An optional standby pump with manifold is available.  Milacron's Titan chillers are designed around multiple and independent refrigeration circuits. Using multiple refrigeration zones assures you of economical operation through capacity staging based upon load conditions. Each zone can run independently of each other. This allows you to shut down a zone, while performing maintenance on it, without having to shut down the entire system.

Portable Chillers:  Milacron Portable Chillers are designed for cooling industrial process applications.  Air-cooled models are recommended where inadequate or contaminated water supplies exist, or where process heat recovery for plant heating is desired. Air-cooled units are available from 5 to 30 tons.   Both styles offer two levels of microprocessor control, lift off stainless steel enclosure panels, stainless steel and galvanized steel frame, refrigerant and coolant pressure gauges, and a small footprint.  With the HE instrument you get the ability to view the flow rate, and the capacity usage is displayed.  Water-cooled units are used where tower water, city water, or other plant water sources are available for condensing and heat rejection. Water cooled units are available from 5 to 40 tons.

Hot Runner Controllers:  Milacron's Hot Runner Controllers allow the ability to control from 1 zone up to 384 zones. They are packaged in two mainframe configurations, and have several popular operator interfaces. The Delta interface uses a tactile keypad. The Orin interface uses an industrial touch screen. The Quantum interface uses a light pen.  All of these interfaces allow you these common features as standard: Mold setups to internal memory, Fahrenheit or Celsius operation, Audible alarm, Detect a bad thermocouple, Detect a pinched thermocouple, Detect a reversed thermocouple, Detect a blown fuse, Ground fault detection circuit, Low voltage phase angle heater bakeout, and multi-level security. These are just a few of the many standard features that are available on these units.

Press Side Granulators: Press side models are upright, general-purpose machines designed for maximum versatility and user convenience. Features include convenient feed heights, and a catch bin or an optional pneumatic evacuation bin with either front or side access. Soundproofed models are available.Casters come standard to provide portability. These units are designed to recover sprues and runners, and the occasional off-spec part. Press side grinders are available with cutting chambers with a 6" x 8", 9" x 12", 11" x 16", or a 11" x 20" configuration. Scissor Action Cutting and Quiet Triple Laminate

Scissor Action Cutting: Counter slanted rotor and bed knives produce a slicing action for clean, uniform granulate at higher throughputs. This efficient cutting action requires less energy, produces less noise and fines, and creates less heat buildup than conventional designs.

Quiet Triple Laminate: All Milacron granulator hoppers are built of a special sound deadening steel/polymer/steel laminate to keep operating noise levels below 90 dba with most materials. This triple-wall construction outperforms conventional double-wall soundproofing techniques because it eliminates noise at the source inside the hopper.

Electrostatic Oil Cleaners: Milacron's Cleanstat Electrostatic Oil Cleaners has the unique ability to draw contaminants of all sizes out of the oil, trapping them on the surface of the collector. This removal of all insoluble contaminants including tars and varnishes allows you to maximize your control of ultimate machine performance. Oil reservoir suction strainers taken from a 2,000 ton injection molding machine.
The strainer on the right was run for 9,000 hours with a 3 Micron Absolute Pressure Filter. The strainer on the left was run for 13,000 hours. Then a Electrostatic Oil Cleaner was added to the system and ran for an additional 4,000 hours.

 

 

 

 

Pneumatic Robots: Milacron offers 3 families of pneumatic robots for you to choose from. They cover press sizes from 330 tons to 4,000 tons. All Milacron pneumatic robots come standard with a vacuum generator and pressure zone. There are linear bearings on the vertical and traverse axies. Lubrication for all bearings is plumbed to a common manifold area, with one zerk fitting for each of the three axis.  Milacron pneumatic robots have "slow descend" as standard. This allows the robot to lower slowly in the out position for gently releasing parts, causing less wear and tear on the robot. Milacron pneumatic robots can be changed in the field from operator to non-operator side discharge. All Milacron robots come with a Stop Motion Circuit Safety Feature. This is a safety feature that once the e-stop button is pressed, the robot will stop, without drifting, MID-STROKE if required.

Servo Robots:  Milacron offers 5 families of Servo Robots for you to choose from. They cover press sizes from 33 tons to 4,000 tons. All Milacron Servo Robots come standard with a vacuum generator and pressure zone. There are linear bearings on all axies. Milacron uses true AC Brushless servo motors on the X, Y, and Z axies. Milacron incorporates closed loop resolver feedback and planetary gear heads on all Servo Robots.Milacron offers a color touch screen graphical user interface as an option on the Optimum and Adept controllers. Milacron uses Breco-flex belts which are constructed of high wear polyurethane, molded on high tensile strength braided steel cable. Milacron Servo Robots can be changed in the field from operator to non-operator side discharge.

Articulating Robots: A Five-axis, modular construction, electric servo driven robot designed for precision machine load/unload. The LR Mate 100i is engineered for maximum reliability in a variety of harsh plant environments, supported by user-friendly software. The LR Mate 200i offers Six-axis of articulation. Th LR Mate offers: hollow joint construction encloses all cable routing to eliminate snagging, absolute encoder positioning, upright or inverted mounting, small footprint for tight installations, and integral double solenoid valves (2) at wrist. Brushless AC servo motors minimize motor maintenance. Harmonic drives on all axes result in higher reliability and reduced maintenance costs.Grease fittings on all lubrication points for quick and easy maintenance. Easily removable service panels for quick access to robot drivetrain.

 Cooling Towers: Milacron Cooling Towers are designed for industrial cooling applications such as hydraulics, chiller condensers, temperature controllers and others. Milacron Cooling Towers are available in galvanized steel or fiberglass construction. Ranging in capacities from 10 to 375 tons.  Crossflow Design: saves on pump power, because you only pay to move the water to the top of the tower. Gravity does the rest. By using a induced-draft design you'll save on fan power and avoid the water leaks typical in forced-draft pressurized towers. Integral honeycomb louvers keep the circulating water inside your tower - and off your roof.

Pump Tank Stations:  Milacron Pump Tank Stations are available for tower water systems and chilled water systems. Single or dual pump configurations with optional standby pump and manifold are available.  These ready to run tanks are built from heavy-gauge steel and strengthened with perimeter reinforcement. Mild steel models receive epoxy coating inside. Tanks are available from 275 to 3000 gallons.  To remove debris from your water system Milacron recommends the CM-MLS in line full flow filter. The filter uses a 140 micron mesh screen. The units construction and conical screen element creates a flow pattern that gives the filter a self-cleaning action.
Debris are effectively forced to the bottom reservoir for easy removal through the flush port. Units come standard with an automatic timer and purge valve. An optional pressure differential alarm is available.

Mold Temperature Controllers: Milacron Temperature Controllers are designed for industrial applications where precise temperature control of circulating water is required. They are designed for process temperatures up to 250 degrees F.  Temperature Controllers are available with pump from 3/4 HP to 7-1/2 HP as standard. They can be configured with heaters from 6 KW to 34 KW.  The temperature controllers include stainless steel enclosure panels, AVT modulating cooling valve, high efficiency pump casting, and flange mounted heater. With the HE instrument package you will receive the flow rate displayed, and the capacity usage. Four large display windows show temperature, setpoint, flow, and capacity % values. The LE instrument package operates the AVT cooling valve, and it maintains the same level of control accuracy and stability as the HE version.The LE control package offers simplicity, and ease of use, and it comes standard with SPI communications.

Large Part Granulators: Large Part Granulators have a low profile, mobile design. The caster-mounted base move easily in tight spaces; the in-feed height is just 5' from the floor for convenient manual feeding. These models are readily adapted to automation with specialized evacuation equipment and alternate hoppers. Soundproofed models are also available. Designed to recover large thin walled parts including housings, helmets, blown bottles, automotive body and bumper components, as well as large volumes of smaller parts and accumulated sprues and runners. Scissor Action Cutting and Quiet Triple Laminate.

Central Granulators: These are our most rugged, powerful granulators, built specifically for high volume, centralized recovery of the toughest materials. Heavy steel plate and stress relieved weldments provide high strength for demanding material recovery requirements. The massive rotor shaft and bearing journals are up to 50% greater in diameter than competitive machines. Designed to to withstand the rigors of the most demanding central material recovery requirements. High throughput rates are achieved. Scissor Action Cutting and Quiet Triple Laminate.

Clean Air Bags: Clean Air Bags expand and contract as the clamp opens and closes "re-using" the same air over and over. This prevents oil vapor from escaping into your plant air environment.
Clean Air Bags also protect your hydraulic oil from contamination by prohibiting airborne particulate from getting into your machine through open non filtered vents. Made of heavy-duty PVC-coated fabric, Clean Air Bags are double seamed and sealed, assuring long life. A cross-frame support simplifies installation.

Sprue Runner Recovery Systems: Milacron's Sprue Runner Recovery System is designed for beside the press applications. The runners are cut into uniform size for immediate reprocessing. The design of the cutting blades eliminates the need for screens. Side panel windows allow you to watch the process.The hinged hopper allows for easy access to cutting chamber. The slow rotation of the cutting blades and the design of the hopper help to reduce the amount of noise generated. Cutters rotate at a very slow rate (30 RPM). The "S" cutting blades break the sprues and runners into smaller pieces. These pieces are then deposited onto smaller cutters. Once trapped between the smaller cutters and the stationary knives, the pieces are cut into granulates of uniform size, reducing the amount of longs and dust. D-2 stationary knives are standard.

 

Product Management

Pickers: Milacron has 4 models of pickers for presses from 33 to 600 tons. Each Milacron picker is equipped with a vacuum generator and vacuum switch that allows use of a vacuum end-of-arm tool for runner (or light part) removal. Our pickers use a shock absorbing system on the vertical arm to allow for very fast and smooth operation. The delivery direction can be changed from the operator to non-operator side of the molding machine. The change can be preformed in less than one minute. The pickers can quickly be rotated out of the way when a mold is being changed. Also, the pickers base is angled away from the molding area to provide an additional horizontal clearance margin while the mold is being installed.

Gantry Mounted Articulating Robots: The Milacron Gantry Mounted Articulating Robots are designed to work with injection molding machines from 400 through 4,000 tons. They offer six axes of motion (one linear, five rotary) resulting in a "mobile" robot capable of servicing multiple operations. These robots offer a lower overhead requirement than traditional gantry robots. Top or side entry into a machine with six axis dexterity for post processing (i.e. palletizing, gauging, deburring, deflashing, labeling, and packaging). Traditional linear gantry robots typically use only linear rails to perform robot motion. The Milacron Articulating Gantry Robot use rotary axes or articulated "joints" for load/unload and post processing motions, and a linear axis for repositioning, allowing them to make flexible, human-like moves. Because these robots come standard with six axes, most operations, from part rotation to intricate part placement and assembly, can be handled without expensive options or fixturing devices. These operations were typically reserved for a human operator.

Conveyors: Milacron offers a variety of models of conveyors from under or along side the press to trunk line conveyors. Milacron conveyors give you a cost-effective way to build an automation system which can make your profits soar! These heavy duty belt conveyors can meet your requirements today and be adapted to your future needs. They can be customized from hundreds of options. Milacron also offers a number of different styles of part / runner separators along with a part divertor. Each separator is intended to be used in conjunction with or attached to a Milacron belt conveyor. By using a Milacron box filling system you can reduce costs by minimizing the amount of time and number of people required to handle bulk-packed, molded parts. These systems are sized to meet your container and floor space requirements.

 Mold Change

Bayonet Mold Clamps: Bayonet Mold Clamps allow the convenience of quick mold change without all of the hydraulic and electrical connections. Bayonet Mold Clamps do not require backplates on the molds. Since the clamps use the SPI standard drilling pattern, mold modifications are minimized.  Typical mold change within 5 minutes. This will insure better profitability and productivity of the injection molding machine.  Bayonet Clamps are designed for presses with maximum opening forces not exceeding 23 US tons (typically for machines under 300 tons). The maximum mold weight for the Bayonet Clamping System is 3,300 lbs.

 Hydraulic Mold Clamps:  Hydraulic Mold Clamps can come in either a vertical or horizontal load configuration. These clamps can be used with standard backplates with parallel faces (no chamfer required).  The clamping nose is made of hardened steel. The clamps are automatic spring-loaded clamping independent of hydraulic pressure (so if your pumps are turned off, the clamps are in a normally closed position, insuring that there will be no "drifting"). Since the clamps are normally closed, hydraulic pressure is used to unclamp the mold.

Mold Change Tables:  Milacron offers a complete line of Mold Change Tables. Horizontal carts are designed for quick transfer, to accommodate any processing technique and any clamping variations.We can custom design a mold cart to your application.  Milacron offers a complete line of mold transfer and mold storage equipment. Mold Carts can be used to pre-stage and pre-heat your molds to help facilitate and speed up your mold change time. Speeding up your mold change time frees up valuable machine time.
